While we did not officially get married in San Francisco this past February, we will be celebrating the fifth anniversary of our Domestic Partnership. Our partnership, sanctioned by both municipal and state law, affords us limited rights with respect to the management of our personal affairs including critical decisions on healthcare for one another. It also requires that we care for one another financially and physically in the event of personal loss and declining health as we age
